FAQ

If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just reach out. We’re happy to talk through it.

GETTING STARTED

  • Not as much as you might think. We'll start with a discovery call to understand your business and where things stand. From there, we walk you through exactly what access we need -- usually just QuickBooks Online and a few supporting accounts.

You don't need to get things organized first. That's our job. We'll take what you have and build from there.

  • Not even close. Cleanups are one of the most common things we do. Whether you're a few months behind or a few years behind, we've seen it -- and we'll handle it without making you feel bad about it.

You don't have to explain everything or get things in order before reaching out. Just hand over what you have and we'll take it from there.

  • Yes, we're fully virtual and work with small business owners all over the country. All we need is access to your QuickBooks Online account and a reliable way to communicate. Where you're located doesn't matter.

  • Once we've had a discovery call and agreed on a plan, onboarding is usually pretty quick. We'll send you a proposal, get access to your accounts, and get to work. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week or two.

  • Nope. If you're not already on QuickBooks Online, we can help you get set up. If you're currently using something else, we can talk through migration, it's usually simpler than it sounds.

WORKING TOGETHER

  • Yes. We are happy to coordinate directly with your accountant so tax season isn't a scramble. Clean, organized books mean your CPA spends less time on cleanup and more time on strategy, which usually saves you money on their end too.

  • That's a really common experience, and the frustration makes complete sense. A lot of bookkeepers do adequate work but go quiet between invoices. You're never sure what's happening or if things are actually getting done.

We built Silver Lining Bookkeeping around consistent communication. Every month you get a set of reports, depending on your package a Loom video walking through your financials, and you have direct access to ask questions whenever you need to. You'll always know where things stand.

  • No contracts, so you're never locked in. Some clients come to us for a one-time cleanup and then take it from there. Others start that way and decide they'd rather hand it off permanently. Either is fine. We'll build a plan that fits where you actually are.

PRICING AND PACKAGES

  • All of our packages are flat-rate, so the price you're quoted is the price you pay. No hourly surprises, no add-on fees for questions.

We offer three tiers depending on how much support and reporting frequency you need. After a discovery call, we'll put together a custom proposal based on your business activity and what you're looking for.

  • Your accountant handles taxes, strategy, and compliance. Your bookkeeper keeps your financial records accurate and current so your accountant has what they need to do their job well.

Think of it this way: your accountant is the architect. We're the ones making sure the foundation is solid. Accountants consistently tell us that clients with a professional bookkeeper cost them less time and less money at tax season.
